Lucy Eveline Packer Linderman (1832-1873)
Lucy was Asa and Sarah's oldest daughter. She was born on March 13, 1832. She was married to Dr. Garrett Linderman, a well known and reputable gentleman doctor who helped to combat the cholera epidemic in Mauch Chunk in the 1850s.
The Lindermans resided in Fountain Hill, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. They would have five children: Asa Packer Linderman, Harry Packer Linderman, Garrett Linderman, Jr., Robert Linderman, and Sallie Linderman. Only Garrett Jr., Robert and Sallie would survive into adulthood.
Lucy was vacationing in Budd Lake, New Jersey when she fell ill, succumbing to pneumonia. Six months before her passing, however, she was in a terrible carriage accident which may have attributed to her early demise.
She entered into rest on July 22, 1873, five years before Asa and Sarah celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She was 41 years old.
The Linderman Library at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was built in her memory in 1877.
